Bad news for Mbeumo & Cunha: Man Utd hold talks to sign £68m star

da winzada777: Manchester United’s transition under Ruben Amorim has been a slow process, with the 40-year-old so far unable to have the desired impact in the role.

da apostebet: He took the reins back in November last year and immediately set about implementing his 3-4-2-1 system that saw him win two Liga Portugal titles with Sporting CP.

However, despite his success with his former side, he’s yet to reach such levels at Old Trafford, only being able to achieve a 40% win percentage during his 42 games at the helm.

It remains to be seen whether the manager has been unable to reach the levels needed in the Premier League, or whether he needs the players he desires to make an impact on his side.

The hierarchy have already splashed over £130m on new additions, but further signings are expected before the end of the window to help the 40-year-old in his quest for success.

The latest on United’s hunt for new additions this summer

Given his success back in Portugal, it’s unsurprising to see Amorim targeting players from his former employers, with midfielder Morten Hjulmand one player in his sights.

Recent reports have claimed that United have already made a £35m offer to land the 26-year-old, who’s said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, the Dane isn’t the only midfielder on the club’s radar at present, with moves already being made over a potential deal to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to CaughtOffside.

Their report claims that the Red Devils hierarchy have already made contact with the England international’s representatives after he registered 26 combined goals and assists across all competitions last campaign.

It also goes on to confirm that the 27-year-old currently has a £68m release clause in his deal at Selhurst Park, with Arsenal and Manchester City also said to be keeping a close eye on his progress.

Why Eze is bad news for Mbeumo and Cunha

Despite the club’s attempts to bolster the heart of the side, attention has also been turned to improving the frontline, even after completing deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo

The pair both massively excelled in the Premier League last season, subsequently playing a huge role in their respective moves to Old Trafford this summer.

The Brazilian registered 15 goals for Wolverhampton Wanderers last time around, whilst the Cameroonian found the net 20 times for Brentford – being one of five players in the division who achieved such a feat.

Both players will likely operate in a number ten role behind the striker, but they may face bad news, facing added competition for a starting place if they land a deal for Eze.

Key depth and quality are needed if the side are to reach the next level in the Premier League, with the Crystal Palace star potentially providing just that should he move to Old Trafford.

When comparing his stats to those of new additions Cunha and Mbeumo, he’s managed to outperform them in numerous key areas, highlighting the quality he possesses.

Eze, who’s been labelled “phenomenal” by journalist Adam Keys, completed more passes, alongside more key passes per 90, offering a more natural number ten, arguably being a better fit for Amorim’s system.

He also notched a higher tally of shot-creating actions, having the ability to create for others but also find the net himself, showcasing why teammate Tyrick Mitchell described him as “one of the best in the Premier League.”

His ability on the ball is further highlighted by his tally, completing more of the take-ons he attempted, whilst also registering more progressive passes per 90 – being able to provide any new centre-forward with endless chances in front of goal.

Whilst it would be yet another expensive addition, given the players already signed in that position, there’s no denying that, from the stats produced, Eze would be a step-up on the pair.

If he does make a move to Old Trafford this summer, it would hand the fanbase yet another reason to be excited, but would potentially be bad news for Cunha and Mbeumo, putting their game time at the club in huge jeopardy.
